Fabiola Gianotti, Physicist, was one of the key figures in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. From January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2025, she served as the Director-General of CERN. She was a member of the scientific advisory committee of United Nations and has received, among others, the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, the Enrico Fermi Prize from the Italian Physical Society, and the Tate Medal for International Leadership from the American Institute of Physics. In 2012, the American magazine Time ranked her fifth in its “Person of the Year” list.
