Giulio Casati is a theoretical physicist, Professor Emeritus at the University of Insubria and director of the Lake Como School of Advanced Studies. Among his main achievements are the discovery of quantum dynamical localization, the discovery of the thermal rectifier, thermal transistor and wave diode. He is a member of the Akademia Europea and of the Academia Europea of Sciences and Arts; Honorary Member of the 'Istituto Lombardo di Scienze e Lettere'. He has been awarded the Enrico Fermi Prize and the International Physics Prize of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
