Michele Parrinello is Professor Emeritus at ETH Zurich and currently serves as Research Director at the IIT in Genoa. He has developed many innovative simulation methods that are used worldwide to solve problems in materials science, chemistry, and biology, making him one of the most cited authors in the world. He was a pioneer in the use of artificial intelligence in atomic-scale simulations. For his contributions, he has received numerous awards, seven honorary doctorates, and is a member of leading scientific academies.
