Pierluigi Contucci is Professor of Mathematical Physics at the University of Bologna and a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Bologna. His research activity lies at the intersection of statistical mechanics, probability, number theory, and the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on the relationship between information, energy, and learning systems. He is actively involved in the European debate on artificial intelligence policies and research governance. He is one of the promoters of a European Research Center on Artificial Intelligence, oriented towards scientifically based development, focused on human capital and long-term sustainability.
